I've never worked professionally doing websites, but it's become a hobby over the years and has given me the opportunity to learn both Java and HTML. Below is a summary of websites that I have produced (well, only one at the moment) with a little bit of technical information for those that are interested! The Adur Canoe Club is a canoe club based in Shoreham-By-Sea, West Sussex. The Adur Canoe Club's main activities are kayaking, although the club own a number of open canoes, which are used for river touring.
The Adur Canoe club benefits from its excellent location on the river Adur. At low tides small channels of fast moving water provide excellent eddies for learning basic white water skills, or, for a play-boater, some nice play spots. High tides give perfect conditions for novices of all ages and ability. The English Channel is all but a miles paddle from the Adur Canoe Club's base location and in certain conditions, Shoreham Beach can provide reasonable surfing waves.
The Adur Canoe Club website was formly hosted by Freeserve (now rebranded as Wanadoo), but in 2004 it was relocated to the Easily Servers due to the increasing demands of the Adur Canoe Clubs viewing public. The website was designed and developed mainly using windows note pad then later developed with Microsoft's Visual InterDev 6.0. The site uses some basic Java Scripting to generate the basic page layout, including the menu and banners. The background image or watermark is randomly selected each time the page loads, so the same page will look different each time it’s viewed. The majority of the graphics were processed using Paint Shop Pro and other images were taken directly from the scanner, or e-mailed to me from other club members.
In September 2003 I submitted this website to the golden web awards for consideration of the award. 2 weeks later the website was awarded the 2003-2004 Golden Web award!

Just a comment that I think the website is superb and I only wish ours could
match it's easy navigation and clarity. I surf the site now and again to see
what you guys are up to and to maybe see some ideas on site that we could adopt
– cheeky I know!
