Introduction

In 2022, following the end of Covid and a job relocation, the family had to move to a new part of the country. The search began and after 18 months of property viewings yielding little to no suitability, we opted for a new build by Barratt / David Wilson homes.

Show homes and glossy brochures, they all look lovely but I knew this was all part of the marketing experience to draw buyers in. I certainly didn’t think I was naive; having owned and rented a number of properties over the years. I'd never purchased a new build, but my wife had, so I thought I knew a bit about properties any my expectations of them, but I wasn’t prepared for the experience that followed and which continues to this day!

This article follows our experience of buying a Barratt / David Wilson home and the journey that continues to this day.

The Alnmouth is an impressive 4 bedroom detached home, with a bright open-plan kitchen. The rear garden can be accessed by two sets of French doors. There is a separate formal dining room and a dedicated home office. Upstairs are four double bedrooms, including the en suite main bedroom, and the family bathroom.
